Tour Guide or Travel Guide
Conversation B
Melinda: I would prefer to plan our own itinerary - it gives us more freedom.
Jean: Right - freedom to get lost.
Melinda: Come on, Jean. We can see what we really want to see and not be rushed.
Jean: It would be nice to go at our own pace; however, we'll have to do some research. We have to know how to get to every destination.
Melinda: The Internet makes planning a piece of cake. Finding detailed maps and transportation shouldn't be a big deal.
Jean: But what if we get lost, how will we ask for directions? Neither of us speaks Japanese.
Melinda: Sometimes finding the way is part of the adventure!
Jean: It might be more complicated - and less fun - than you think.
Melinda: Trust me, traveling by ourselves is worth it. We can get a more intimate experience of the culture.
Jean: How?
Melinda: Well, we can eat at hole-in-the-wall restaurants and stay at hostels!
Jean: That might be fun. But have you thought about our safety?
Melinda: We would be careful. If we travel by ourselves, we'll stay together - especially at night.
Jean: Well, Melinda, let's see what kind of tour you can plan.
