awhile adv. (前面不可有介係詞)

in a while

We chatted for a while

a while back = a while ago
eg: I saw the movie a while back.



here and there 到處
eg: Mary went here and there looking for the best bargains.
eg: She worked part-time here and there, and never had a real job.
eg: There were books scattered(散佈) on the floor here and there.

run-in n. -> (口語)爭論
eg: Mike will be fired if he has another run-in with the boss.
eg: Charles had a run-in with his client yesterday.
eg: Bob had a run-in with the police and got a ticket.
eg: Alan had servral run-ins with his landlord(房東).

If you have run-in with somethin, it is usually a bad thing.
If you have run-in with the police, it means that you did something in trouble.
They caught you.

if something run through your mind, it means you keep thinking about it.

run up against -> face dangerous situations
