The hands on the clock approach 6:00 p.m., which is the dinner hour in many American homes. The kids are hungry, and Mom is exhausted after a full day at work. Yet she can have a home-cooked meal ready in short order with her slow
cooker. Before work, Mom(or Dad) puts all the ingredients into the slow cooker and
turns in on. The food cooks slowly all day and is ready to eat when everyone gets home.
Another possibility for busy parents is a "dinner studio." Here, they can prepare several entrees, take them home, and put them in the freeze. Then they just defrost the food, heat it and eat it. First, they make an appointment to visit the dinner studio and choose entrees from the online menu. When they arrive for their appointment, all the ingredients are waiting. They just put them together according to the recipe. Then they pay and leave. The staff at the dinner studio does the cleanup, and the cost is only about $4.00 per serving.

Will humanity call Earth it home forever?
From mountains to oceans to scorching deserts, Earth is filled with awesome beauty. Sure, we could all do without the typhoons and earthquakes and blood-sucking mosquitoes, but overall, we humans have a pretty fantastic home. It's hard to imagine anyone wanting to leave.
Still, some scientist think that leaving Earth is a necessary part of humanity's future. Stephen Hawking, a well-respected physicist, once said he didn't believe mankind would be able to survive the next thousand years if it didn't spread into space. "There are too many accidents that can befall life on a single planet," Hawking said. "But I'm an optimist. We will reach out to the stars."
In the past couple of decades, humans have taken important steps toward conquering space. Astronauts have walked on the moon, probes have landed on Mars, and space telescopes have captured stunning images of distant galaxies. The international Space Station has even given astronauts the opportunity to stay in space for months at a time. But there is a big difference between staying in a space for short time and living there permanently. Is space colonization really the next step?

The first Indy 500 was run in 1911, but the first woman didn't participate untill 1977. Danica dreamed of provin that women could compete in the Indy car-racing world.
She signed with an Indy team in 2002. Needing more experience before takin on the Indy 500, Danica competed in easier races. Three years later, she became the fourth woman to race in the Indy 500. Danica finished fourth adn became an instant celebrity.
Proving herself
After that, many races passed with no wins. Some bagan criticizing Danica, saying she had a pretty face but not real talent. However, in April 2008, the 26-year-old finally achieved success when she won the Indy Japan 300. The victory made her the first woman ever to win an Indy car race.
Her team owner, Michael Andretti praised the 5-foot-2-inch, 100 pound champion. "She proved today that she's a winner (in probably) the first of many (wins)."
Only time will tell, but for now, Danica's doing what she loves -- driving fast.

Approximately 36 miles south of Yosemite Valley, sightseers will find Wawona, home to the Pioneer Yosemite History Center. There, visitors learn about Yosemite's human history as well as its influence on national parks worldwide. Log cabins, a covered bridge and the 19th-century Wawona Hotel (with no phones or televisions) make park guests feel as if they've stepped back in time. Not far from Wawoman lies Mariposa Grove, a grove of 500 enormous, ancient sequoias. The oldest tree in the grove, named "Grizzly Giant," is estimated to be around 2,000 years old.
Learn, play and explore
The park offers a variety of educational programs, including photography walks, art classes and ranger-led bear and geology strolls. An abundance of other activities awaits visitors, including bird watching, rafting, biking, fishing and rock climbing.
For a more relaxed experience, the park also offers guided tram or bus tours, including an eight-hour grand tour. Naturalist John Muir, whose campaign to preserve the area led to the park's creation, once wrote, "No temple made with hands can compare with Yosemite." Not far from Wawoman lies Mariposa Grove, a grove of 500 enormous, ancient sequoias. The oldest tree in the grove, named "Grizzly Giant," is estimated to be around 2,000 years old.

The park offers a variety of educational programs, including photography walks, art classes and ranger-led bear and geology strolls. An abundance of other activities awaits visitors, including bird watching, rafting, biking, fishing and rock climbing.
For a more relaxed experience, the park also offers guided tram or bus tours, including an eight-hour grand tour. Naturalist John Muir, whose campaign to preserve the area led to the park's creation, once wrote, "No temple made with hands can compare with Yosemite." The Pullet Surprise
After a while, they came to the edge of a beautiful pond.
"All right, little ones," the mother duck smiled.
"Time for a swim. Everybody in."
"Oh, boy!" they quacked.
"Oh, no!" the chick peeped.
"Psst," she whispered, pulling one of the others aside.
"Is she pulling my leg? What's she trying to pull? We can't swim."
"Sure we can," the little duck quacked.
"It's easy once you get your feet wet. Watch!"
And he jumped into the water with his brothers.
"You can do it!" they cheered.
"We're all pulling for you!"
"Please don't push me," cried the chick.
"I can't pull this off. I can't swim.
I don't ... a-a-ahh-choo ... know how."
"You can't pull out now," the little ducked.
"Jump in!"
But the chick stay on the bank.
"I can't!" she screamed wildly.
"Pull yourself together," the others cried.

Suddently from out of nowhere the mother hen appeared.

It walks like a duck, and it talks like a duck, but is it?
The barnyard was quiet as the rain poured down.
"It's raining, so don't go out," clucked the hen to her chicks.
"And stay nearby. The henhouse is crowded today.
Everyone's pushing and shoving."
"Yes, mother," peeped all the little chicks.
All but one, that is, "Aw, Mom," she complained.
"I'm tired of being cooped up. Can't I go outside?"
"Dear, no," said Mother.
"You might catch a cold. If you got sick and didn't pull through,
I would never forgive myself.
We mustn't push our luck. Now, not another peep."
"Mother warries too much," the chick said.
"I never get to do anything. I'm tired of being pushed around."
The little pullet pushed through the crowded henhouse over to the door.
She pushed it open and looked outside.
"It's not raining much," she though.
"And look at those funny-looking chickens. They get to play outside.
Those lucky ducks! Oops!" The chick fell out into the barnyard.
"Oh, boy!" she shouted. And she went over to play with the funny-looking chicks.

Molly, the Brave Little Pony
A new life
Following sugery, doctors attached a cast to what remained of Molly's leg, and she walked right away. Everyone was encouraged but knew the biggest test was still ahead. For her to live without a front leg, Molly needed an artificial leg. A doctor who makes artificial limbs for humans designed one for Molly. The pony loved it and even began "asking" for it by holding out her damaged limb.
Today, Molly uses her artificial leg to knock on doors to get attention and food.
A new career
Now, Molly has not only a new leg but also a new career. The pony goes to children's hospitals, nursing homes and other places where people need encouragement. The litle horse that overcame terrible injuries brings hope to others facing their own challenges. She has even inspired a new book called Molly the Pony. When the doctor made Molly's artificial leg, he cut a smiley face into the bottom of the "hoof." Now she leaves smiles everywhere she goes!

Molly, the Brave Little Pony
This special little horse shares hope wherever she goes
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina brought death and destruction to Mississippi and Louisianna. Humans weren't the only ones affected by the terrible storm. Around 600,000 animals died or were left by their owners during the hurricane. A little pony named Molly was one of the animals left behind. After three weeks, neighbors rescued her and moved her to a farm.
Bad luck
Molly joined other rescued animals there in what everyone thought was a safe place. But for the pony, her good luck turned bad.
While the new owner was away, a dog attacked Molly and seriously injured her. Molly's right front leg needed to be amputated. Since horses with missing leg rarely survived, the doctors didn't want to remove it. But after they met Molly, they agreed that she could have the surgery. They felt she had a strong will to live. On January 16, 2006, doctors removed Molly's leg just below the knee. Everyone believe the surgery would give her a fighting chance.
